RAD140 (Testolone) is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) originally developed by Radius Health Inc. for the investigation of muscle wasting conditions and hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. It is one of the most extensively studied SARMs available, characterised by its exceptionally high binding affinity to the androgen receptor (AR) with a Ki of approximately 7 nM. In preclinical models, RAD140 has demonstrated tissue-selective anabolic activity, preferentially activating androgen receptors in muscle and bone tissue whilst exhibiting reduced androgenic effects in reproductive organs. Research has also explored its potential neuroprotective properties, with studies suggesting it may protect hippocampal neurons against kainate-induced excitotoxicity via MAPK signalling pathways.
